PROJECT OVERVIEW
BasedApp is a Web3 financial platform that enables users to seamlessly spend their cryptocurrency using a Visa card. The platform simplifies crypto payments by allowing direct deposits from networks like Solana and Polygon, with plans for broader expansion.
This project followed an agile process, with constant changes in vision and evolving requirements. As a result, the design had to remain adaptable and iterative, ensuring that each version aligned with shifting business goals while maintaining a clear and user-friendly experience. This case study explores how I navigated these challenges while improving the card management experience, transaction visibility, and overall user journey.

TIMELINE
2023- 2025
Before launching BasedApp’s first Visa card, the initial focus was on building the Wallet feature to simplify crypto deposits into the app. This ensured that users had an easy way to store and manage their funds before integrating card functionality.
Once the first card was launched, the challenge shifted to seamlessly transferring crypto from the wallet to the card, ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience. Additionally, the evolving nature of the project required constant UI/UX adjustments to keep up with changing product goals while maintaining ease of use.
Early wireframes were created to explore different design solutions for both the Wallet feature and the Card Management feature, helping to refine the user experience before final implementation.
Primary Goals
BasedApp aims to revolutionize the financial landscape by providing a user-friendly platform that enables seamless interaction with digital assets.
The primary goal is to empower users to spend, send, and invest in cryptocurrencies effortlessly, bridging the gap between traditional banking and Web 3.0.
By leveraging account abstraction and ensuring top-tier security, BasedApp aspires to make digital dollars on-chain the cornerstone of modern banking.
Key Objectives
1. Seamless Wallet-to-Card Transfer
Facilitate effortless movement of cryptocurrencies from the user’s wallet to their Visa card, enabling smooth real-world spending.
2. Better User Onboarding
Simplify the onboarding process, allowing users to log in using their email or Google accounts, thereby reducing barriers for non-crypto natives.
3. Scalability & Flexibility
Design the platform to support future updates, additional networks, and an expanding user base, ensuring adaptability in a rapidly evolving crypto environment.

Stakeholder-Driven Decisions
Unlike traditional user research, the design process for BasedApp was primarily guided by stakeholder input, as they were also the platform’s target users. This meant that product requirements were based on firsthand experience rather than external user interviews.
Technical & UX Considerations
Since the platform deals with crypto transactions and Web3 finance, UX decisions needed to balance security, clarity, and ease of use.
Minimizing friction for new users was a key priority, leading to a streamlined onboarding experience.
Wallet-to-card transfers had to be intuitive, ensuring users could easily move funds without confusion.
Wireframes & Early Concepts
Before finalizing the UI, initial wireframes were created to establish the Wallet feature and Card management flow. These wireframes helped outline the core user journey, ensuring that users could seamlessly deposit crypto into their wallet and transfer it to their Visa card. Given the agile nature of the project, the wireframes needed to be flexible and adaptable, allowing for quick iterations based on evolving stakeholder feedback.
Throughout the process, the design went through multiple iterations due to frequent changes in the product’s direction from stakeholders. Each update required refining user flows and restructuring layouts to align with shifting priorities while maintaining a cohesive user experience.

UI Design & Final Screens
Once the wireframes were refined, the UI design phase focused on creating a modern, intuitive, and user-friendly experience while maintaining the flexibility required for future updates. The final high-fidelity designs included:
Wallet-to-Card Transfer Flow – Ensuring a smooth and transparent transfer experience.
Onboarding Flow – Simplified login and account setup for both crypto-native and non-crypto users.
Card Management & Transactions – A clean, structured interface for tracking transactions and managing card settings.
While some of these designs have been implemented, others are still pending development due to evolving priorities.
